Essex Meats (Brilanka Limited) is a family run business
owned by Iain Mcleod and brother Malcolm Mcleod
and brother in law Terry Copsey. All three family
members learnt their trade at the famous Smithfield
Market and it is there that the origins of Essex
Meats began. The three meat traders had already
established successful businesses during the early
seventies within the market and in 1978, formed
Essex Meats, thus combining their expertise and
experience within the fresh and frozen meat industry.
Essex
Meats operates out of fully customised 8,000 square
feet premises located at Basildon that include freezers,
chillers and temperature controlled storage and
food preparation areas. The experienced and fully
trained support and back office staff also operate
out of these premises that incorporates an integrated
computer system for management of the whole business.

The
business has a fleet of 8 temperature controlled
delivery vehicles to service the London and Home
Counties areas and also engages a tried and trusted
third party haulage firm for the rest of the United
Kingdom.

The management at Essex Meats fully understands
that the catering industry changes with fashion
and the increasing interest in healthy eating. The
business has adapted to the changes in tastes and
eating habits as well as the environmental concerns
that have taken place since starting the business.
By listening to our customers and adapting to current
trends, Essex Meats has maintained customer loyalty
and serves a wide variety of catering establishments.
However the company still firmly practices old-fashioned
business principles such as customer service, reliability,
courtesy and quality of products when serving it's
customers.
